Margaret Mahy (1936–2012 ) is the most acclaimed of New Zealand’s children’s writers, she wrote many picture books, poems and novels.  Her writing is extraordinary, buzzing with life and humour. Margaret won the international Hans Christian Anderson Medal for her "lasting contribution to children's literature".

I worked with Margaret’s on three pictures books Down the Back of The Chair, Bubble Trouble and The Man From the Land of Fandango.

Margaret once invited me to join her for fish and chips by the sea in Christ Church, I never made it. It's a shame I didn’t get to meet her in person.

All three books published by Frances Lincoln
