My Mum, Joyce Dunbar and I have collaborated on three books so far; Shoe Baby was our first. The story came about while I was studying illustration at Brighton University, I drew a picture of a girl stepping through a sea of shoes which sparked an idea for Mum, she wrote a story about a baby who has learned how to say ‘How do you do?’ and goes on a mad adventure in a shoe. Mum managed to include in the book lots of things I love to draw from an octopus in a hat to a polka-dot hankie, the end result is 'Tickety-boo'.

Ten years after Shoe Baby was born along came Pat-A-Cake Baby. This book had a similar journey, Mum was thinking about babies baking and so I drew a series of sketches, mum wrote some words, I drew some more pictures and so it went on until eventually the book arrived.
It tells the story of Cookie Baby who wakes up the kitchen, it's time to make a very special midnight cake. With acrobatic baby helpers and a sprinkle-spronkle of magic the cake is ready just in time for tea..with who? The moon, of course!
Pat-A-Cake Baby won the Mal Pete Children's Book Award 2015.
'The two talented Dunbars serve up a riot of rhyme, colour and action as the baby bakers get stuck into a mixing bowl full of magic and mayhem. Success on a plate!'
